Progress Wrestling Chapter 73: Fourth Shade of Green Preview and Predictions

Progress Wrestling Chapter 73: Fourth Shade of Green Preview & Predictions

Trent Seven & Pete Dunne vs The Kings Of The North

The Kings of The North (Damien Corvin & Bonesaw) appear as a tag team for only the second time in Progress as they look to overcome 2/3 of British Strong Style in the shape of Trent Seven and "The Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne. Their only previous Progress match was a defeat to The London Riots at Chapter 43 while Damien Corvin recently competed at Chapter 71 in an Atlas Championship number 1 contender match in which he was defeated by Michael Dante. Their opponents arrive with an impressive track record as former Progress Wrestling Tag Team Champions and are in fact undefeated in Progress when competing as a duo with their most recent victory coming against David Starr & Matt Riddle at Chapter 63. The reigning WWE UK Champion will however be wary of yet another appearance from Christian Michael Jakobi ahead of a much anticipated match against Ilja Dragunov at Wembley in September. CMJ appeared at Chapter 71 to deliver a verbal attack on Dunne before slapping him across the face and running through the crowd to escape the clutches of an irate "Bruiserweight". If the outspoken advocate of Dragunov is brave enough to face Dunne in front of his hometown crowd then he may not escape quite so easily again.

Prediction: Trent Seven & Pete Dunne

Toni Storm vs Killer Kelly

Killer Kelly finally makes her Progress debut as she goes face to face with the former Progress Womens Champion Toni Storm. Portuguese star Kelly was originally scheduled to make her Progress debut at Chapter 65 as part of a Fatal 4 Way match, however she had to withdraw after suffering a nasty facial injury at a WXW show the night before. This match presents a huge opportunity for the former WXW Womens Champion to score a huge debut victory against the recently dethroned Storm. Aside from the quality of her opponent the biggest obstacle for Toni Storm to overcome in this match could well be psychological. This will be the first time in over a year that she enters a Progress ring without the Womens Championship belt around her waist and it will be interesting to see how she performs in her first Progress match since she lost the title to Jinny at Chapter 69.

Prediction: Killer Kelly

Sexy Starr vs Haskins & Flash - Tag Team Thunderbastard Series

Sexy Starr (Jack Sexsmith & David Starr) begin their participation in the Tag Team Thunderbastard Series as they take on the currently undefeated Haskins & Flash. A key factor in this match will be how quickly Sexsmith & Starr can get into the rhythm of being a Tag Team as they have only teamed three times previously in Progress and have picked up just a single victory against the Anti-Fun Police at Chapter 64. Their opponents however come into this match undefeated in their two Thunderbastard Series matches so far and in fact have six victories in a row as part of their stable alongside Jimmy Havoc. The key to their streak of victories appears to be Vicky Haskins who has seemingly focused both men on a common goal of becoming Progress Tag Team Champions and they appear hell bent on achieving that aim.

Prediction: Haskins & Flash

Jimmy Havoc vs Drew Parker - No Disqualification Match

Drew Parker returns to Progress for the first time since his defeat to Chris Ridgeway in the semi-final of the Natural Progression Series at Chapter 70 to face Jimmy Havoc in a No Disqualification match. Parker has a burgeoning reputation in No DQ/ Deathmatch wrestling and will no doubt relish the opportunity of facing winner of the CZW Tournament of Death 2017. Jimmy Havoc enters the match on the back of a shock defeat to Spike Trivet in a Deathmatch at Chapter 71. In fact it is interesting to note that Havoc has lost his last five No DQ/ Deathmatches (Singles) in Progress with his last victory in such a match coming against Mark Haskins at Chapter 55. Drew Parker will also take confidence from the fact that he actually defeated Spike Trivet in a Deathmatch at a Progress "Live at the Dome" show in March. It will also be interesting to see if Havoc addresses the situation regarding his potential match with Will Ospreay that had been penciled for Wembley. This has subsequently been thrown into doubt as Ospreay revealed he is no longer able to appear due to a scheduling conflict with NJPW. "The Aerial Assassin" also appeared to send a message to Havoc at Chapter 72 when he used a number of Havoc's signature moves and attacked members of Progress ring crew before he was removed by a returning Paul Robinson.

Prediction: Jimmy Havoc

Eddie Dennis vs Danny Jones

Danny Jones will be aiming to pick up his first ever victory in Progress at the fourth time of asking as he faces a returning Eddie Dennis. The young Welshman has unwittingly been caught in the crossfire of the bitter feud between Eddie Dennis and Jones' mentor Mark Andrews. At Chapter 65 Jones faced Danny Duggan in the First Round of the Natural Progression Series and lost after he was distracted by Dennis appearing and then berating Andrews for not being ringside to support his young protege. Sunday will give Jones his opportunity to exact revenge on Dennis for himself and his close friend Mark Andrews. As for Eddie Dennis this will be his first match in a Progress ring since his return at Chapter 72 to declare that he has now been medically cleared to compete following surgery and a lengthy injury lay off. Dennis has been itching to get his hands on former best friend Mark Andrews and has promised that until that match is set he will look to take out any of his allies in the meantime.

Prediction: Eddie Dennis

Mark Andrews vs El Phantasmo

Mark Andrews returns to Progress for the first time since his defeat to Zack Sabre Jnr at Chapter 69 to face a man making his much anticipated singles debut El Phantasmo. This match will provide Andrews with an opportunity to end a run without victory in Progress that stretches back to Chapter 63 when he defeated Flash Morgan Webster. It is also worth noting that this will be the first show that both he and Eddie Dennis have been present at since SSS16 in May when Andrews agreed to face Dennis in a match once he had been medically cleared. It may well be the case that the two come face to face on Sunday and set the date for their bitter feud to finally come to a head. As for El Phantasmo this will be a massive opportunity to follow up his debut at Chapter 70 (teaming with Jordan Devlin) with what would be a potentially breakout singles victory. The Canadian high flyer has built an impressive reputation with a number of UK promotions over the last 12 months and a strong showing on Sunday will no doubt lead to further appearances in Progress.

Prediction: Mark Andrews

TK Cooper vs Rob Lynch

TK Cooper has been asking Progress management for a shot in the Atlas Division for some time and come Sunday he will get his opportunity as he faces Rob Lynch. For Lynch this will be his first match since the Fatal-4-Way at Chapter 69 for the then vacant Atlas Division Championship which was won by Doug Williams. Coincidentally the last match that Lynch won was against now Champion Doug Williams at Chapter 65 and he will no doubt be keen to register a victory here to start building towards a potential title shot further down the line. As for TK Cooper this will be his first singles match since he was dismantled by Walter on day three of SSS16 following his interference in the World Championship match between the big Austrian and Travis Banks on day two. Despite a number of victories in tag matches as part of The South Pacific Power Trip alongside Travis Banks you need to go as far back as a "Live at the Dome" show in January for Coopers' last singles win which came against Mike Bird.

Prediction: Rob Lynch

Travis Banks (Progress World Champion) vs Tyler Bate - Non Title Match

After his 17th successful defense of the Progress World Championship (the most by any World Champion in Progress history) Travis Banks told Jim Smallman that as a reward he wanted a non title match against a young talent at Chapter 73. The co-owner of Progress duly obliged by pitting Banks against former WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate. The "Big Strong Boi" will no doubt have huge support from his hometown crowd and will provide as massive test for the "Kiwi Buzzsaw" in what is a rematch of the SSS16 2017 Final. On that occasion, the only time these two have met 1v1 in Progress, it was Banks that came out victorious and subsequently went on to claim the Progress World Championship from Bate's British Strong Style stablemate Pete Dunne at Chapter 55. The Champion has appeared more and more desperate to hold on to the title in recent months retaining it via a count out defeat to Walter and interference from TK Cooper against both Jack Sexsmith and Chuck Mambo. Banks will no doubt be aware that a victory for Bate here would put the former Progress and NXT Tag Team Champion in contention for a shot at his title so expect another win by any means necessary performance come Sunday.

Prediction: Tyler Bate
