Haskins & Flash continue to make their mark

The Tag Team "Thunderbastard" Series continued as Haskins & Flash maintained their unbeaten start at the expense of The Anti-Fun Police. Accompanied as ever by Vicky Haskins the hitherto fractious relationship between Mark Haskins and "Flash" Morgan Webster appears to be shifting more towards a well oiled and highly effective partnership. That being said it wasn't plain sailing as Damian Dunne & Los Federales Santos Jnr proved that they most definitely belong in the Tag Team Series. In fact Santos Jnr looked to be on the verge of the first win in Progress for the Anti-Fun Police until Vicky Haskins intervened by distracting referee Chris Roberts. This enabled Webster to hit Santos Jnr with a low blow and Mark Haskins rolled the big man up for a three count. Haskins & Flash are unbeaten after two matches in the series and look like they could pose a big threat to reigning champions The Grizzled Young Veterans. This also wouldn't be the last significant action that they would have in Sheffield...

CCK reunite as Kid Lykos returns

Prior to arriving in Sheffield it had been revealed by Chris Brookes that his tag team partner Kid Lykos had refused to come to any Progress shows since he was attacked by TK Cooper at Chapter 65. Brookes told Progress management that he was unwilling to partner with anyone else for the Tag Team "Thunderbastard" Series and it was therefore agreed that he would participate as a singles competitor. On Sunday, after notching up another impressive singles victory against Angelico, Brookes grabbed the microphone to address the situation regarding his absent tag team partner. It was at this point that Haskins & Flash appeared and jumped Brookes from behind, beating down the man from Tipton including a shot with Websters` motorcycle crash helmet. This was the moment that things took a momentous turn as CCK's music hit and Kid Lykos charged in to the ring. Haskins & Flash stood confidently as Lykos still had his arm in a sling and appeared to pose minimal threat, however he then ripped the sling away before dropping both men to the delight of the Sheffield crowd. As they embraced it appears that Lykos` 7 month injury hell is over and CCK will be going all out to reclaim the Tag Team Titles.

Davis advances to Natural Progression Series Final

It will be Chris Ridgeway vs Mark Davis in the Natural Progression Series Final as Dunkzilla earned his spot by defeating Danny Duggan. In what proved to be a very even contest Duggan was within a whisker of victory with an impressive sit-down powerbomb that nearly put the big Aussie away but ultimately came up short. Davis dished out some Walter-esque chops that visibly damaged the chest of Duggan before finishing things with a brutal right hand. Many predicted at the start of the tournament that it would be Ridgeway and Davis in the Final but picking the winner is a much tougher ask.

Walter pins TK Cooper to earn World Title match

In what was an intriguing tag team match with various stipulations in play it was Walter & Jack Sexsmith that picked up a win against the South Pacific Power Trip (TK Cooper & Travis Banks) with the big Austrian making the all important pin to earn himself another World Championship match. He will however owe a huge thanks to Sexsmith who chose to give up his chance of a pin and instead dive to the outside of the ring taking out Banks, allowing Walter to deliver a huge lariat to Cooper for the win.  Where or when Walter will take his title shot is currently unknown but many are already speculating that it will be at Wembley which could potentially see a Triple Threat between Banks, Walter and SSS16 winner Zack Sabre Jnr. This may appeal to "Der Ring General" as the "no disqualification" rules would prevent Banks taking a count out defeat to retain his belt as he did so controversially at SSS16. Wherever it may happen it feels right now like the age of Walter in Progress imminent and judging by Travis Banks expression after the match, he knows it.

Jinny makes successful first title defence

Jinny had been scheduled to face former Progress favourite and current NXT star Steffanie Newell in her first match as defending Progress Womens Champion. This however was to change as Newell emerged at the beginning of the show to reveal she had suffered an injury the previous day during an NXT match at Download Festival. It was therefore announced that her replacement for the title match would be fellow NXT star Dakota Kai. This would still present a significant challenge for Jinny in her first title defence but the champion put in a very impressive performance. Still she will no doubt be grateful to House of Couture member Chakara who provided a number of distractions during the bout which aided the champion. One such distraction ultimately enabled Jinny to hit Kai with the Rainmaker and notch a first win as champion. After the match Newell declared that when fit she will return to Progress and challenge Jiiny for her title, judging by the start of her reign as champion this will not intimidate Jinny one bit.
